GM's China exports hike pollution

To the Editor: This letter is in response to your Jan. 30 article, "GM will boost export of trucks from China." After reading it, I was truly disgusted at the mentality of General Motors. It is bad enough that GM executives have been mismanaging their corporation for decades; now they want to mismanage the world's environment. The article said GM is building small trucks in China, but the trucks pollute too much to sell in the United States or Europe, so GM is selling them in less environmentally strict countries. Apparently the bottom line is much more important than the environment or the health of the people in Third World countries. While GM continues its massive layoffs and downsizing and polluting of our world at the expense of many, the big decision makers sit in their lofty towers and see a completely different reality, shaded by their wallets and not responsibility and ethics.
